Reconomy aiming to ‘Kickstart’ careers

Due to an extended period of rapid expansion, Telford-based business, Reconomy, has joined the Government’s Kickstart Scheme to create new employment opportunities for young people at risk of long-term unemployment.

Launched by Chancellor Rishi Sunak in Summer 2020, the Kickstart Scheme has already created thousands of jobs for 16 to 24-year-olds on Universal Credit. Reconomy will make use of Kickstart to assist with the recruitment of approximately 10 young people on 6-month contracts, to provide additional support during the company’s busiest trading periods.

Those recruited will fulfil a range of roles across Reconomy’s Commercial and Supply Chain departments, including enquiry handling, department administration, tender support, and business development activities. Reconomy is also creating a dedicated ‘Contract Mobilisation Support’ team specifically for the Kickstart Scheme, which will provide further support across numerous company departments.

Reconomy is seeking people from a wide range of backgrounds, with different levels of experience to take part in the scheme. Those selected will have the opportunity to gain invaluable skills and experience, along with the potential to join Reconomy on a permanent basis. Prospective candidates can register their interest at The Job Centre or visit the careers section of Reconomy’s website – www.reconomy.com.

Reconomy is the UK’s market-leading provider of outsourced services to drive the circular economy – including waste and resource management, recycling services and environmental compliance.

Lyndsey Denning, Director of Group HR at Reconomy, said: “Its important that we continue nurturing up-and-coming business talent in Shropshire. We believe this Scheme will allow us to do that by giving young people that all important first step on the careers ladder.”

How will kickstart benefit Reconomy? Created a new team of ‘Contract Mobilisation Support’ for the scheme, this team will provide support across teams, help us find new employees who will stay with Reconomy, a mix of backgrounds and experiences coming onto the team.
