Reconomy Supports Queens Green Canopy: “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”

Reconomy plant 150 trees and hedgerow whips on behalf of The Queens Green Canopy (QGC).

The Queens Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique initiative focusing on planting sustainability to create a legacy in honour of the Queen’s leadership of the Nation. This lasting legacy will continue to benefit people, wildlife, and climate for future generations to come.

Reconomy is proudly supporting the initiative of “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee” by planting 150 native trees and hedgerow whips – thanks to the efforts of 16 employee volunteers and local woodman, Larry Jones. To ensure a ‘right tree, right place’ approach we used a local nursery, Harley Nursery, who closely advised on tree selection to suit the local environment and give the plants the best chance of flourishing.

The initiative to support a greener UK mirrors Reconomy’s vision to create a sustainable, waste free world by inspiring businesses to do all they can to reduce their environmental impact. Also supported by our Reconomy Environmental Action Plan (REAP) objectives and pathway to net zero carbon.

Although, as a business our focus is on the sustainable management of resources for our customers, we understand the importance of taking action ourselves. We are committed to creating a greener UK, and all have an individual responsibility in the transition of environmental sustainability.

Commenting on the QGC initiative, Reconomy’s Head of Group Sustainability, Diane Crowe, said: “we are all looking forward to seeing how the trees and hedgerows we have planted develop over the coming years. On the back of winning the Queens Award it has been a privilege for Reconomy to plant these for the Queens Green Canopy. Not only will this provide a place for nature but importantly it will also help our carbon net zero plans with trees being fantastic at capturing and storing carbon.”
