Latest environmental successes
At Reconomy, environmental value is more than a pillar of our ESG strategy; it is a guiding principle for how we do business. We are committed to going beyond compliance and driving real, measurable change.
From decarbonising our operations and championing renewable energy to reducing waste and regenerating nature, we take a science-backed, data-led approach to sustainability. Our mission is clear: to drive circularity, enable net zero, and create environmental value that benefits both people and the planet.

Our Climate and Nature Positive Strategy
Our Climate and Nature Positive Strategy is grounded in ambition and accountability. We have committed to reaching net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our value chain by 2040, underpinned by near- and long-term targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
- Reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 33.6% by 2028, from a 2021 baseline
- Achieving 100% renewable electricity across global operations by 2028
- Reducing Scope 3 emissions intensity by 44% by 2028, and by 97% by 2040
- A long-term commitment to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90% by 2040
In 2024, every Reconomy brand began developing tailored carbon reduction plans, backed by a Sustainable Procurement Policy and structured phasing of change through 2040. We are laying a solid foundation today for a resilient, net-zero tomorrow.

As an asset-light business, we have a unique opportunity to drive change with relatively low energy use. In 2024, 95.6% of our electricity was sourced from renewables, and 78.5% of total energy procurement (gas and electric) came from clean sources.
Key operational milestones:
- All UK operations now run on 100% renewable electricity
- Strategic partnership with Bryt Energy to supply zero-carbon power
- ESOS energy audits revealed new opportunities to reduce usage further
- Clear guidance on waste segregation, and a single-use plastics policy
- Donations of over £8,500 in IT equipment to the Turing Trust for reuse
We’re driving down our operational footprint while improving how we serve our customers. Every kilowatt saved and every item reused helps close the circularity gap.
