Reconomy wins double recognition at the 2025 National Sustainability Awards
Reconomy, the leading international circular economy specialist, is delighted to announce that it has secured two awards at the 5th Annual National Sustainability Awards.
The awards celebrate pioneers of sustainability and showcase outstanding innovation. The Provider of the Year award highlights organisations that demonstrate sustainability leadership and strong green credentials across their operations. Reconomy was recognised for its role in tackling one of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges by helping businesses decouple growth from resource extraction, optimise their materials, prevent waste and lower carbon emissions. The judges acknowledged that sustainability is inextricably linked to Reconomy’s business model with green credentials deeply embedded across its operations, and that the Company continually strives to lead by example with ambitious environmental targets.
The Sustainable Packaging Award recognises suppliers and retailers that have found ways to reduce unnecessary or environmentally damaging materials. Reconomy Connect was recognised for its groundbreaking partnership with Marston’s, one of the UK’s largest pub chains to tackle packaging waste by scaling up glass reuse across the hospitality sector. Since the project commenced in September 2024, more than 22,000 bottles have been sent for reuse and it has scaled from 10 locations to more than 150 across the North West of England and Wales. The judges noted the partnership’s commitment to the waste hierarchy and its success, with other major pub chains now seeking to replicate this project.
David Gudgeon, Head of External Affairs at Reconomy Connect, a brand by Reconomy, commented:
“We are thrilled to win these awards which underline how our business is at the forefront of delivering innovative solutions to tackle challenging waste streams and help businesses conserve resources, prevent waste and lower their carbon emissions. These accolades are a testament to the efforts of our dedicated teams and to our commitment to lead by example and set the standard for our industry. We look forward to continue working with all our stakeholders to contribute to a more sustainable, waste free world.”
