Reconomy Builds SmartWaste Connection

Leading outsourced waste management and recycling services provider, Reconomy, has further demonstrated its commitment to technological innovation and improved customer service, by seamlessly linking its customer system with BRE’s environmental and site monitoring software, SmartWaste.

The development, which uses the latest API (application programming interface) technology, will mean that data entered into Reconomy’s online waste management portal, can then be used to automate the population of the SmartWaste system, significantly simplifying the data inputting process. As well as removing duplication of effort, customers will also benefit from the reduced likelihood of input error and even faster data availability.

Commenting on the development, Jody Fullman, Reconomy’s Chief Information Officer, said: “The successful integration of The Reconomy Portal with BRE’s SmartWaste system is another example of how we are utilising technology to further improve the customer experience and remove the ‘hassles’ regularly associated with waste management. We recognise that continued investment in technology is key to supporting our ongoing growth and in bringing us closer to our customers.”

The Reconomy Portal gives customers unparalleled 24/7 access to management information and reporting capability. In addition to providing accurate data on waste types, volumes and collection/disposal locations, the portal also gives full visibility of all material movements and proof of service. Users can also access current and historical invoices at a time which is convenient to them.

SmartWaste is BRE’s environmental site monitoring and reporting software. SmartWaste assists some of the UK’s leading construction companies and contractors to manage environmental impacts. The online system allows organisations to collect data across multiple projects in one place, manage compliance and track KPI’s against target. Being part of the wider BRE Group means customers can align SmartWaste to other products, such as BREEAM.

Matt Bransby, SmartWaste’s Commercial Lead, said: “Our partnership with Reconomy to help deliver fast, efficient and accurate data autonomously is a huge step forward in SmartWaste’s development. Giving our customers the ability to reduce time spent on data entries is the next step in our growth. Innovation into the construction and built environment is the foundation of SmartWaste and BRE, the API connection between us and Reconomy is a strong example of this.”
