Healthy Mind, Healthy Trade: Reconomy Trade raises £6,000 for Springfield and Telford Mind.

Reconomy Trade, on-demand waste services provider, raised an impressive £6,000 with their healthy mind, healthy trade campaign during February. The donation was equally shared between local mental health charities; Springfield and Telford Mind to help fund their vital services.

Reconomy Trade recognised both the importance of promoting good mental health and having the required support network in place to help those that need it. Particularly in a male dominated industry, openly discussing mental health issues or seeking help can be difficult or even considered taboo. The healthy mind, healthy trade campaign was created to challenge the stigma and call for more mental health support.

Springfield and Telford Mind are both independent mental health charities working within their local communities, Springfield supporting across Southern Warwickshire and Worcestershire, and Telford throughout Telford and Wrekin and surrounding areas.

Springfield Mind have recently relocated to their main hub site, The Fred Winter Centre, in the heart of Stratford upon Avon. The donation will provide them with the funds to help create their new hub, which will allow them to embed further within their local community.

Ian Smart, Head of Income Generation and Partnerships at Springfield Mind, said:

“The kind donation made by Reconomy Trade will allow us to purchase new furniture and furnishings to facilitate these groups and meetings, providing a welcoming and comfortable environment for our service users, promoting their wellbeing and really making this base our home. We would once again like to thank Reconomy Trade for their generosity, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with them

Telford Mind will also be using their donation to promote wellbeing and support those in emotional distress or struggling to cope through their one-to-one listening support line. This support line is available to speak to a trained member of staff on duty during opening hours to offer one to one support. The donation will provide 200 hours of listening support.

Louise Heap, the Chief Executive of Telford Mind. Said “Thank you to Reconomy Trade for raising £3,000 for Telford Mind. We rely on the generous donations of businesses like Reconomy Trade to ensure we can fund our vital services. This donation will be used to support our One-to-One Listening Support Line that is available for those who are in emotional distress, struggling to cope, or in need of somebody to talk to.”

Mike Benton, Operations Director at Reconomy Trade, commented: “It is an amazing result to raise this amount for our regional Mind charities and to hear the positive impact this will have at a local level. Reconomy Trade, part of Reconomy Group, provides quick response waste collections to our customers, who we’d like to thank for helping us raise these much-needed funds. By its nature we are all about providing a fast-paced service, yet a campaign like this helps us all to just take a moment to recognise the importance of spending time talking to each other and making sure we are all ok”.
