Reconomy and The Co-operative Bank shortlisted at National Recycling Awards

Reconomy, the UK’s leading provider of outsourced resource management and recycling services, has been shortlisted alongside The Co-operative Bank at the 2022 National Recycling Awards (NRAs) in the Partnership Excellence – Commercial category.

The NRA’s Partnership Excellence category recognises the true partnerships and innovative working, going beyond the norm and standard contractual arrangements to highlight creative ideas and new ways to inspire others in the sector in corporation of the waste hierarchy.

Reconomy’s shortlisted partnership with The Co-operative Bank has grown significantly in recent years. The partnership has seen The Bank achieve Zero Waste to Landfill in 2020 and increased recycling rates, aiding the Bank to become the UK’s best-ESG rated high street banking in 2021, with a rating of 9.2 from independent ratings agency, Sustainalytics.

Steve Hatton, Reconomy’s Head of Account Management in Business and Industry, said:

“Being recognised in this shortlist for our valued partnership with Co-operative Bank is fantastic news. Since being challenged to help the Bank achieve zero waste to landfill back in 2019, it’s been amazing to see just how much our working partnership has evolved and grown. We are looking forward to what the future holds.

Quintin Gilbert, Reconomy’s Cooperative Bank Account Manager said:

“With environmental protection being one of The Co-operative Bank’s key Ethical Policy commitments, it’s great to see how Reconomy has been able to align what we are doing with the Bank’s sustainability ambitions. Being recognised in the shortlist will only motivate us to help the Bank maintain their best-ESG rating of 9.2.

The awards take place on 6 December at the Westminster Park Plaza London when all the winners will be announced. You can view the full shortlist here
