Reconomy, the leading international circular economy specialist, announces that it has been recognised as one of the top-performing private businesses in the UK’s 2025 Best Managed Companies awards.
The awards are part of the UK’s Best Managed Companies programme, which shines a spotlight on private businesses from across the UK and their performance and role as key innovators. The programme is an initiative of Deloitte Private, which provides personalised solutions to privately owned businesses and family enterprises.
This is the inaugural year of the UK’s Best Managed Companies awards, with the programme already established in over 45 territories across the world. It recognises top private companies for their organisational success and contributions to their industry and the UK economy. Independent judges assessed applicants based on four critical pillars: strategy, culture and commitment, capabilities and innovation, and governance and financial performance.
The judges, in particular, commended Reconomy for its strong sense of purpose and mission to close the vast circularity gap with too few secondary materials making their way back into the economy by helping businesses prioritise circularity over landfill. The judges also noted Reconomy’s highly motivated and engaged workforce who are united by the Company’s vision to create a waste-free world, and the strength of the Company’s brand identity.
Additionally, the judges acknowledged Reconomy’s comprehensive ESG strategy and how it looks to lead by example by publishing an extensive annual ESG report. They also highlighted how Reconomy has begun to measure the overall circularity of its own business operations to give it a clearer picture of its own impact and to see how it can drive greater circularity progress.
Guy Wakeley, Chief Executive of Reconomy, commented: “We are proud to be recognised as one of the UK’s top managed private companies. This is a tremendous accolade and acknowledgment of our exceptional growth journey, clarity of purpose and compelling value creation story.
“We operate in the highly attractive international circularity market driven by megatrends with businesses facing growing regulatory requirements and increasing consumer demand to operate more sustainably. Our business has undergone a period of transformational growth as we have focused on scaling our operations to capitalise on these opportunities and attain a leading position in this market.
“We are now an international data-led business serving some of the most recognisable brands in the world, with a workforce of over 4,000 colleagues. Having built a world-class platform with unique technology capabilities and best-in-class experts, we are perfectly positioned to build on our momentum and deliver long-term value for all our stakeholders and the UK economy.”
Claire Evans, Deloitte Private partner and UK Best Managed Companies leader, said:
“The Best Managed Companies programme celebrates the passion, resilience and focus on sustainable growth that are hallmarks of the UK’s leading private businesses. These businesses are purpose-driven, disciplined and industry-leading. They are confidently navigating the future and setting an inspiring standard for success among private businesses in the UK.”
