As well as looking to consolidate their supply base across all their businesses and reduce overall spend on waste, a key driver for Balfour Beatty was to ensure reliable and accurate capture of data to support their year on year sustainability commitment.
By focusing on the key elements of waste management, process and utilisation, Reconomy demonstrated their ability to deliver real, measurable cost reductions.
This focus has ensured better waste planning, allowing Balfour Beatty to move from a reactive position to a more strategic waste management approach.
This included using the right containers for the right waste products, resulting in a reduction in waste movements and improving their carbon footprint.
Site Waste Management Plans (SWMP’s) have also been managed and reported through the Reconomy Portal. This data capture mechanism has allowed Balfour Beatty to demonstrate their ability to strategically manage waste to their clients at the tender stage of major construction projects.
