Last Week Reconomy’s Managing Director, Paul Cox, won the hotly contested Transformational Leader category at the 2017 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards for the Midlands region. The category acknowledges entrepreneurs with the vision and determination to lead an organisation on to bigger and better things. From its offices on Stafford Park in Telford, Reconomy’s 300+ workforce collectively manages approximately 3million tonnes of waste per year. For the last four years, the company has consistently diverted 93% of this waste away from landfill by exploring all available opportunities for recycling and reuse with its clients. Last year the company’s turnover grew by 27% to £111million.Shropshire Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive, Richard Sheehan, said: “Reconomy is a rapidly expanding business, and we must congratulate them. As a representative of a growing sector, and an important one, we were delighted to see they had the tenacity to enter again, and the feedback we had from the judges was that they were a very worthy winner, in a very tightly-contested category.”Managing Director of Reconomy, Paul Cox, said: “We’ve always been a Shropshire business and a large percentage of our workforce live in Shropshire. So, to have been singled out as the county’s best company is a wonderful achievement but also immensely humbling. We’ve all worked incredibly hard to get to where we are and this award is a wonderful acknowledgement of our efforts. It’s a proud day for us all.”
