Reconomy has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental management following the company’s latest ISO 14001 audit, once again achieving the accreditation with no non-conformances.
ISO 14001 is the internationally-recognised standard for the environmental management of businesses, prescribing controls for numerous activities that can impact the environment. Reconomy was first awarded ISO 14001 status in 2003 and was amongst the first businesses in the UK to achieve the latest version of the standard in April of this year.
As the UK’s leading provider of outsourced waste management and recycling services, certification to ISO 14001 demonstrates Reconomy’s ongoing commitment to reducing its impact on the environment. It also gives Reconomy’s thousands of customers and suppliers confidence that the company treats and handles waste in a compliant manner.
Under ISO 14001, Reconomy has created a comprehensive Environmental Management System which is embedded throughout the company. This is helping to drive continual environmental improvements across the business.
Reconomy is now working towards the development of a fully Integrated Management System to include Quality, Environment and Safety. This will centralise all policies, procedures, guidance documents and forms, improving efficiency and consistency across the company.
