Hazardous Waste Regulations (England & Wales) which was introduced in 2005, brought about a ban on certain wastes which could previously have been disposed of as 'general waste'. Such waste (including paints, adhesives, inks, solvents, fluorescent tubes, oily rags and filters) now requires specialist disposal in separate UN approved containers.
