Reconomy Solutions, then called Wastefile UK were contacted by Murphy Construction, a nationwide contractor specialising in working with utility companies to repair damaged drains, pipes and cables, with a view to facilitating nationwide supply of aggregates to their various sites.

Reconomy Solutions supplied quotations for the supply of fill sand and MOT type 1 to four Murphy depots throughout Yorkshire. In addition, Reconomy Solutions were able to provide cost comparisons for a variety of other aggregates, such as concrete and asphalt, offering savings of up to £25 per tonne. Prior to this, Murphy Construction were sourcing all asphalt from a single supplier, which was proving both geographically and economically detrimental.
Following a meeting with Murphy's head buyer, Reconomy Solutions identified a range of the most suitable suppliers from within our nationwide network of suppliers, which incorporates both large industrial and independent producers.
Our strong supplier relationships enabled us to secure a number of highly competitive rates throughout Yorkshire, allowing us to present a geographical breakdown of the rates Reconomy Solutions were able to offer for asphalt collection, and the savings available to Murphy Construction for full materials supply, of around £2000 per site. Whilst Murphy Construction attempted to renegotiate rates with their suppliers, our superior buying power ensured that we were able to offer preferential rates.
Continual contact with depot managers ensured that all requirements were effectively fulfilled, and Murphy Construction have expressed subsequent interest in extending supply and utilising our tip and collect service throughout the UK.
In addition, this process of supply has since been successfully applied to a number of nationwide utility companies.
